Reviews

Very nice looking mud flaps on 2017 F350 SD
5
I was concerned that these would have too much "bling" on the truck with the stainless plates but they looked very good and do not make the truck look overdone.  I wanted a heavy duty rubber flap and these are a nice thick rubber.

Pros:  Heavy Duty Rubber, Mounting Hardware Included, Look Great!
Cons: Installation instructions are not good.  Mounting holes/slots in the flaps are customer installed.

The mounting instructions (paper version) included with the mud flaps are horrible.  Although the 3d exploded view will show you where all the hardware will go.  The best installation instructions is to use the YouTube videos.  These cover most of the factory options except inner wheel liners for the front.  For the rear I have wheel liners, so I had to drill a hole in the wheel well liner as stated in the instructions.  The underneath bracket I tweaked a bit because the angled tab that bolted to the box was at an incorrect angle.  It only needed to be corrected about 5 degrees, then the bracket will be parallel to the ground.  I preferred not to put the slots in the mud flap because I felt this was another area to pack dirt into.  I created a template after installing the mounting plates and leveled this out then transferred the holes to the flap.  Just used a 3/16 drill for the mounting holes.  Because I was able to just use the holes, I opted out using the large bracket that helped hold on the mud flap.  For the front flaps, there was nothing in installation video in relation to the front wheel plastic liners.  When I would put on the inner mounting bracket the plastic tabs would pop out because it was flush against the wheel liner.  I talked with customer service at Sharp Truck and they told me to flip the plastic inserts the opposite way.  I had to do this for the two plastic inserts towards the lower outside of the wheel liner (next to fender).  I also had to put a small bend in the mounting plate to match the curvature of the wheel liner.  Because the mounting plate was flush to the liner, I used an awl to poke holes in the liner for most of the holes (after all the mounting hardware was tightened and positioned correctly).  Then when I installed the flap the screws would do through the liner.  It's to bad in the front I still needed to use the bright aluminum plate over the flap to hold it on.  This was because the top hole to hold the flap on was not through the flap.  It was offset and required to use the plastic spacer.  I will probably eventually paint this black because it really sticks out!  I took my time during installation and they look very sharp on the truck!

Answer:
The 2017 Super Duty does require front and rear mounting brackets to properly install the flaps. This will ensure you do not have to drill into the body of your vehicle which will keep the warranty on the paint intact.

Product Description

These Gatorback Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Logo Mud Flaps are designed to fit perfectly into the front or rear wheel wells of most full-sized trucks and SUVs. Gatorback mudflaps feature premium quality heavy-duty rubber to offer the best protection for the finish of your truck. These mud guards are an essential accessory for your truck, you'll never regret adding these exceptional flaps to your Ford F250 Super Duty or F350 Super Duty.

Nothing on the market compares to these mud flaps! Made with 1/2" thick premium virgin rubber and finished off with stainless steel plates emblazed with Ford 6.7L Power Stroke logos, these mud flaps are built to impress while they protect your pickup truck. The quality weight of the rubber ensures that no rocks, dirt or debris will get passed these flaps. Officially licensed by Ford, these mud guards feature a custom look with Ford 6.7L Power Stroke die-stamped stainless steel plates.

Installation is made simple with the included self-tapping mounting screws. Optional mounting brackets are available (sold separately) to support the rear mud flaps or to off-set the flaps on trucks with lift kits and oversized tires. The Gatorbacks install flush to the inside of the wheel well making them a true universal fit whether you have an OEM stock truck or have added aftermarket accessories.

Available Mud Flap Sizes & Applications-

12"x23" Cut Style - These are the "standard" of the Gatorback line of flaps and feature a "moon cut" look. They work best on the Front of most trucks and the Front & Rear of SUVs.

12"x23" Full Style - These Gatorback Mud Flaps have a rectangular or "full cut" look. They are best suited on the Rear of trucks and support or mounting brackets are recommended.

12"x26" Cut Style - Featuring a "moon cut" style, these flaps are best suited for the Front of taller or lifted pickup trucks. Off-set or kick-back brackets may be required for tire clearance.

12"x26" Full Style - Featuring a "full cut" style, these mud flats are best suited for the Rear of taller or lifted pickup trucks. Off-set or kick-back brackets may be required for tire clearance.

19"x24" or 21"x24" Dually - These flaps provide the best protecting for your dual rear wheel pickup truck. The 21" are 2" wider but also feature a heave reinforced bottom plate to help eliminate sailing and provide your truck years of protection on the road. The best way to determine if you should get the 19" or 21" wide flaps is to measure your trucks tire tread pattern. Most trucks require the 21"x24" for the proper amount of tire coverage. Mounting brackets are strongly encouraged on all dually mud flaps.

Manufacture Warranty-

Gatorback mudflaps are backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty. This warranty covers rubber replacement (ex- tear offs) for the lifetime of the product to the original owner. It does not cover damage caused by abuse, or regular wear and tear on brackets, plates, or mounting hardware.
