How do I clean my headlights-how to clean headlights-cleaning foggy restoring headlights

If your vehicle has headlights that are cloudy and aren't as bright as they used be SharpTruck can help you with that. We have a Professional Headlight Restoration Kit that can restore up to 6 vehicles headlights and that won't cost you an arm and a leg. You can do a couple garages worth of cars for about $6 a car. Once you use this kit you will be amazed at how much brighter your head lights are. It will increase the illumination of the roadway in front of you, making it easier to see any hazards.

I'm sure you have heard about cleaning your headlamps with toothpaste, or cleaning your headlights with baking soda. Do those methods work? Maybe, but it will only be a short term fix. The reason for that is when you clean your headlights with those methods you may remove some of the surface oxidation that is there but you do not reseal the headlight covers. So you could get short term results but you have not sealed the headlights from future oxidation. You could even see them cloud up faster since you have removed the original sealant with the scrubbing.

Using our headlight cover cleaning and restoration kit is very easy and can be done almost anywhere.

  1. This first thing you will need to do is determine the Oxidation Damage that has happened on your headlights. The 3 levels of damage are found at the bottom of the page and the steps of cleaning that will be needed with each level.
  2. Using masking tape, mask off the perimeter of the headlight to prevent scratching of any painted surfaces or chrome that might occur when using the finishing sheets.
  3. Use the Lens Cleaner Prep to finish all the steps in Levels 1, 2 and 3. This specialized cleaner is recommended for micro grit sheet lubricant as well as a cleaner to prep the plastic headlight lenses for Lens Seal Kote. Make sure to keep the headlight wet while refinishing the surface of the headlight.
  4. Follow the instructions for clean up depending on your level of oxidation.
  5. Once the oxidation has been removed clean the headlight one final time with Lens Cleaner Prep.
  6. Put on the rubber gloves that were included and apply Lens Seal Kote to the 2" poly Foam brush. Spread the lens sealant to the headlight using a side-to-side motion.
  7. Turn on the headlight for a faster drying time

Note: Do not try to repair the headlights in the rain or in temperatures below 40°F.
