How to Remove Scratches from Clear Coat Paint with a Car Paint Scratch Remover Pen

It was bound to happen and one day it did, you came out to your car and there staring at you was a scratch in the paint. It’s not a scratch that goes all the way through the paint but a scratch none the less and until you get it fixed you are going to see it every time you walk to your vehicle. There are a couple of options you have to get it fixed.

Clear coat Scratch

The first option is you can go to an automotive body shop and have them do their thing. Depending on the severity of the scratch this might be your only option. It's possible it could require, sanding, priming, painting and buffing. Unless you are a professional or do body work as a hobby fixing a deep scratch yourself is not in the cards.

The second option is to fix this scratch yourself. Before you tackle a project like this you need to determine if this is a job you can handle. You do not want to jump in head first and end up ruining your paint job, that could look as bad as a scratch.

So you will need to determine the severity of the scratch. The easiest way to do this is to apply the "Fingernail Test" Simply take your fingernail and run it over the scratch and if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail but it does not catch this is the perfect candidate for you to fix yourself. If your fingernail does catch this might be a job for the professionals.

The scratch is only on the clear coat and you are going to fix it yourself and save some considerable money! One product that SharpTruck carries and recommends for this job is Hi-Tech Magna Mark Scratch Eliminator Pen. This pen dispenses Clear Coat resin and will fill and seal a clear coat paint job on any color vehicle.

Using this pen could not be much easier. Clean the scratched area thoroughly so there is no dirt, mud or debris. With a clean surface simply take the pen and draw it over the scratches. You can do this in sunlight or shade when its 40 degrees or 110 degrees. Make sure not to disturb the area until the resin is dry. That should only take 3-7 minutes. That is it, scratch fixed, gone, disappeared.
