The offset with these brackets will move the flap away from the tire providing you extra clearance between the tire and mud flap and will help prevent the tire from rubbing on the flap. A good rule of thumb is if there is less than 1" of clearance when you have your tires turned an offset bracket will be a good idea. Using this bracket will also allow a more customizable length with the flap since the flap will mount at the base of the fender.
