MUD FLAP BRACKETS
5
Ok so I originally bought 4 half moon mud flaps from Sharp truck for my 2017 GMC Sierra 1500. What I needed to purchase was the full sized rear. one phone call and I had the correct bracket and flap delivered. Great Customer service and will purchase again in the future.
The flaps themselves are great. Excellent quality rubber. The problem with this "kit" was the brackets for the rear flaps and instructions for them. Since the brackets are galvanized, I took the time to spray them with a rubber undercoating spray for added weather resistance. The instructions that are shown here are different and incomplete from the ones included with the flaps. There are overlays that you line up to make mounting holes in the flaps. Problem is the markings did not line up with the holes on the truck. Marking and drilling holes, then cutting out slots in the thick rubber was a job in itself, then not lining up and having to modify them was a real hassle. The front flaps went on easily (no brackets). I was a helicopter mechanic in the Army for 7 years, I'm no beginner at turning wrenches. Save yourself some money and hassle and skip getting the brackets. The fronts I would give a 5 star rating, but the extra hassle brought my overall rating down.
Flaps are 1st quality. Mounting brackets are galvanized Metal. They should be stainless to prevent rusting. Flaps are bolted directly through rubber to the fender well. Suggest a SS bracket for the front flaps that goes around the wheel well to give the flaps a more substantial mounting.
The brackets had to modified due to the fact the holes that hold the brackets to the body of the truck were out of linement! Which made the mud flaps hang over the outside by over an inch. They looked nasty!
These Brackets were exactly as described. I used them to install my new Gatorback Flaps on my 2016 3500HD. They fit perfect and they gave the mud flaps a continuous solid surface mount to, making the installation trouble free.
