Tow different trailers with one rugged, easy-to-adjust hitch using the B&W Tow & Stow Adjustable Dual-Ball Mount. Designed for standard 2" receiver hitches, this American-made adjustable ball mount combines a 1-7/8" hitch ball, a 2" hitch ball, multiple height positions, and B&W’s signature stowable design in one heavy-duty towing accessory.

The 5" drop and 5-1/2" rise range make it an excellent choice for pickup trucks, SUVs, work vehicles, lifted vehicles, and other tow vehicles that need more height adjustment than a conventional fixed ball mount can provide. Instead of carrying separate ball mounts for different trailers, you can quickly adjust the towing height in 1" increments and rotate the ball assembly to match the trailer coupler.

When towing is finished, the ball platform rotates underneath the receiver, keeping the hitch conveniently attached to the vehicle while moving it away from your shins, garage door, and loading area. Built from high-strength steel with a durable black protective finish, stainless-steel pins, and corrosion-resistant hitch balls, the Tow & Stow is a premium performance upgrade for customers who value towing versatility, durability, and everyday convenience.

Key Features

  • Adjustable 5" drop and 5-1/2" rise – Positions the trailer closer to level for more predictable handling, proper weight distribution, and improved towing stability
  • Integrated 1-7/8" and 2" hitch balls – Allows you to tow multiple light- and medium-duty trailers without carrying or installing separate ball mounts
  • Patented stowable design – Rotates the ball platform underneath the receiver when not in use, helping protect your shins and keeping the rear of the vehicle less obstructed
  • High-strength American-made steel construction – Delivers the durability required for regular towing while the protective finish, plated hitch balls, and stainless-steel pins help resist corrosion and weather exposure

Adjustable Height for More Level Towing

A trailer should sit as level as reasonably possible when connected to the tow vehicle. A trailer that rides excessively nose-high or nose-low may handle poorly, distribute its weight incorrectly, reduce ground clearance, or place unnecessary stress on the towing system.

The B&W Tow & Stow helps address these differences with a vertically adjustable ball platform. Two removable stainless-steel adjustment pins allow the platform to be raised or lowered in 1" increments, providing up to a 5" drop when the ball mount is installed in the standard orientation.

For trailers that sit higher than the vehicle’s receiver, the complete ball mount can be inverted to provide up to a 5-1/2" rise. This range makes the hitch particularly useful for trucks with moderate lifts, oversized tires, taller receiver heights, or owners who regularly switch between trailers with different coupler heights.

Dual-Ball Versatility
The integrated dual-ball assembly includes two commonly used hitch-ball sizes:

  • 1-7/8" ball: Rated for up to 3,500 lbs gross trailer weight
  • 2" ball: Rated for up to 7,500 lbs gross trailer weight

Changing ball sizes does not require removing or replacing a separate hitch ball. Remove the applicable retaining pin, rotate the ball assembly until the required ball is facing upward, and reinstall the pin and retaining clip.

This versatile design is ideal for customers who tow combinations such as utility trailers, small boat trailers, personal-watercraft trailers, landscaping trailers, small campers, and other light- to medium-duty trailers. Always match the hitch-ball diameter to the size stamped on the trailer coupler. Never connect a trailer to an incorrectly sized hitch ball.

The maximum usable capacity of the complete towing system is determined by its lowest-rated component. Never exceed the rating of the Tow & Stow, receiver hitch, tow vehicle, trailer coupler, hitch ball, safety chains, or any other towing component.

Convenient Stowable Design
Traditional fixed ball mounts often remain exposed behind the bumper when towing is finished. That can create an obstacle while loading cargo, walking behind the vehicle, parking in a garage, or working around the tailgate.

The Tow & Stow solves this common problem by allowing the ball platform and swingarm to rotate underneath the receiver. Once secured in the stowed position, the assembly remains attached to the vehicle but sits farther out of the way.

This design means the ball mount can stay with the truck instead of being removed, carried in the cab, or placed in a truck-bed storage box after every trip. It is an especially valuable convenience for contractors, boat owners, landscapers, property owners, and frequent recreational towers.

Although the stowed position reduces rearward obstruction, always verify clearance around the bumper, exhaust system, spare tire, tailgate, driveway, and surrounding components before driving.

High-Strength Steel Construction
B&W manufactures the Tow & Stow from high-strength steel to provide the structural integrity required for repeated towing. The substantial steel shank, vertical adjustment channel, rotating swingarm, and integrated ball platform are engineered as a complete towing system rather than a collection of loosely matched accessories.

The black version uses a protective coating system intended to resist corrosion, chips, weather exposure, and normal road wear. The hitch balls receive corrosion-resistant plating, while stainless-steel adjustment pins provide strength and improved resistance to rust in areas that are frequently handled or exposed to moisture.

As with any steel automotive accessory, the finish is protective rather than indestructible. Road salt, gravel impacts, standing moisture, and metal-to-metal contact can eventually wear or damage the coating. Routine cleaning and inspection are important for maintaining the product’s appearance and operation.

Anti-Theft Design
The Tow & Stow incorporates a retaining design that helps keep the swingarm and ball platform captured on the shank. A slide pin prevents the swingarm and hitch-ball assembly from simply being removed when the adjustment pins are taken out.

When the Tow & Stow shank is secured inside the receiver with a compatible locking hitch pin, the adjustable platform remains captured on the hitch. This design discourages component theft and allows the ball mount to remain on the vehicle with greater confidence.

A locking receiver pin is still required to secure the entire ball mount to the vehicle. The built-in anti-theft design does not lock the shank inside the receiver by itself.

Vehicle and Trailer Compatibility
This Tow & Stow is designed for vehicles equipped with a standard 2" by 2" receiver-hitch opening. It is not intended to fit a 1-1/4", 2-1/2", or 3" receiver without an appropriately rated receiver configuration, and receiver adapters may reduce towing capacity or introduce unwanted movement.

The 5"-drop model is particularly useful when:

  • The receiver sits considerably higher than the trailer coupler
  • The tow vehicle has oversized tires
  • The truck has a suspension lift
  • Several trailers with different coupler heights are used
  • A fixed ball mount cannot keep the trailer level
  • More adjustment range is needed than the standard 3"-drop model provides

Before purchasing, measure from the ground to the top inside edge of the vehicle’s receiver opening and compare that measurement with the height from the ground to the bottom of the level trailer coupler. The difference indicates the approximate rise or drop required.

B&W notes that many standard-height vehicles can use a 3"-drop model, while lifted trucks, oversized tires, or trailers with significantly different coupler heights may require a 5-, 7-, or 9"-drop version.

Important MultiPro and Multi-Flex Tailgate Notice - This standard Tow & Stow is not compatible with GMC MultiPro or Chevrolet Multi-Flex tailgates. The fold-down inner step on these tailgates may contact a conventional ball mount and sustain damage.

B&W offers a dedicated MultiPro/Multi-Flex Tow & Stow with additional clearance features for compatible GM trucks. Owners of vehicles equipped with these specialty tailgates should select the dedicated version rather than this standard TS10038B model.

Not Compatible with Weight-Distribution or Sway-Control Systems
The B&W Tow & Stow is a conventional adjustable ball mount. It is not compatible with weight-distribution hitches or receiver-mounted sway-control systems that require specialized head assemblies, spring-bar attachments, or dedicated mounting points.

Customers who need weight distribution or integrated sway control should use a complete system specifically engineered for those functions.

Made in the USA
The Tow & Stow is manufactured and assembled in Humboldt, Kansas. Domestic production allows B&W to oversee the materials, fabrication, finishing, assembly, and quality control behind one of its most recognizable truck accessories.

For customers who place a high value on American manufacturing, long-term serviceability, and manufacturer support, this construction is an important advantage over disposable or lightly built imported ball mounts.

Installation Information
The B&W Tow & Stow installs directly into a compatible 2" receiver hitch. Installation is generally straightforward and does not require drilling, cutting, welding, or permanent vehicle modification.

General Installation Process

  1. Confirm that the vehicle has a properly installed and appropriately rated 2" receiver hitch.
  2. Slide the Tow & Stow’s 2" shank into the receiver opening.
  3. Align one of the shank’s receiver pin holes with the hitch receiver.
  4. Install an appropriately rated 5/8" hitch pin or locking receiver pin.
  5. Secure the hitch pin according to its manufacturer’s instructions.
  6. Remove the two height-adjustment pins.
  7. Move the ball platform to the position that keeps the connected trailer level.
  8. Reinstall both adjustment pins and retaining clips completely.
  9. Rotate the dual-ball assembly so the correct ball size faces upward.
  10. Reinstall the ball-selection pin and retaining clip.
  11. Connect the trailer, latch the coupler, attach the safety chains, connect the trailer wiring, and verify all required clearances.

Tools Required
No conventional hand tools are normally required for routine installation or adjustment. A tape measure is useful when determining the required drop or rise.

A compatible receiver pin or receiver lock is required to secure the shank inside the vehicle’s receiver. Follow the hitch-pin manufacturer’s instructions if its design requires a key, wrench, or other tool.

Estimated Installation Time - Initial installation can generally be completed in approximately 5 to 10 minutes, assuming the vehicle already has a compatible receiver hitch and the required receiver pin is available.

Important Installation Notes

  • Confirm the required ball size before coupling the trailer.
  • Ensure every pin passes completely through its mounting point.
  • Install every retaining clip before towing.
  • Never substitute undersized or unrated hardware.
  • Use the shank hole that allows adequate clearance while positioning the ball mount appropriately in the receiver.
  • Confirm that the platform cannot contact the bumper, tailgate, exhaust, spare tire, pavement, or trailer components.
  • Recheck the installation after the first short towing trip.
  • A hitch pin or receiver lock is required but is generally sold separately.
  • Read and follow the B&W owner’s manual before towing.

Care & Maintenance
Proper maintenance helps preserve the protective finish and keeps the adjustment system operating smoothly.

Clean the Hitch Regularly
Remove dirt, road salt, sand, mud, and trailer grease with clean water and a mild automotive detergent. Use a soft brush or cloth around the adjustment channel, pin holes, swingarm, and hitch-ball bases.

Avoid prolonged use of aggressive acidic cleaners, harsh wheel cleaners, or abrasive tools that could damage the black coating or plated surfaces.

Lubricate All Three Stainless-Steel Pins
B&W recommends applying white lithium grease to all three Tow & Stow stainless-steel pins. Keep the pins clean and lightly lubricated to reduce corrosion and help prevent them from seizing inside the adjustment holes.

Remove contaminated lubricant before applying a fresh, thin coating. Lubrication should be checked more frequently after exposure to:

  • Rain or standing water
  • Snow and road salt
  • Boat-launch ramps
  • Coastal environments
  • Mud or dust
  • Long periods without adjustment

Do not apply excessive grease where it will collect large amounts of grit.

Storage - When the ball mount remains on the vehicle, place it in the stowed position when practical and secure it with a suitable receiver lock.

Warranty Details
The B&W Tow & Stow is backed by a limited lifetime warranty. B&W states that its products are intended to be free from design and quality defects.

The warranty should not be interpreted as protection against every form of damage. Normal aging, cosmetic wear, finish deterioration, corrosion resulting from inadequate maintenance, accidents, misuse, overloading, unauthorized modification, incorrect installation, and use outside the product’s intended purpose may not be covered as manufacturing defects.

B&W specifically notes that products and finishes will experience normal wear and that basic maintenance is required to preserve operation. Damage caused by accident or misuse may be handled at the manufacturer’s discretion rather than as a standard warranty claim.
