Love this product!  Just get a small sponge, apply a little Black Fusion, wipe your black trim, let it dry and you will be amazed!  Other products work, but this works better!

Can I install a ceramic coating over this

- Christopher Marcus on 2/11/2026

You can but it will not work near as well. The ceramic coating seals the surface, and the Black Fusion will NOT be able to penetrate the surface, it will just darken the coating

When it comes to restoring faded automotive trim, not all solutions are created equal. Technician’s Choice® TEC70 TC Black Fusion sets itself apart with an advanced chemical formula designed specifically for long-term rejuvenation and protection of black and grey plastic surfaces. Unlike temporary silicone-based dressings, TEC70 is a low-viscosity methoxy-methylphenyl oligomer coating that physically bonds to surfaces like vinyl, polystyrene, rubber, and PVC. The result is a chemically-cured layer that defends against environmental damage from acid rain, UV rays, detergents, and oxidation—restoring a rich black finish and preventing future fading.

This product is ideal for professionals and detailing enthusiasts who want a permanent solution—not a quick fix—for restoring automotive trim. It’s perfect for use on bumpers, RV trim, truck bed rails, and other hard plastic surfaces exposed to the elements. Applied in a thin, even coat, TC Black Fusion levels itself naturally and air-cures within 90 minutes, forming a hydrophobic, weather-resistant finish. And because it doesn’t rely on oils or waxes for gloss, it won’t streak, collect dust, or degrade under UV exposure.

From its long-lasting performance to its protective barrier and deep, uniform color enhancement, TEC70 TC Black Fusion is a go-to choice when faded trim needs a professional-level revival.

Application Instructions

  1. Shake well before and during use. Separation is normal.
  2. Clean and dry the surface thoroughly—no water spots or residues.
  3. Tape off painted or glass areas, or keep a damp microfiber nearby for immediate wipe-off.
  4. Apply a small amount of product with an applicator pad or fine brush.
  5. Spread evenly and remove excess product.
  6. Allow to air cure for 90 minutes (time may vary based on climate).
  7. A second coat may be applied after drying if surface is heavily oxidized.
