At a glance

Overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive: customers say the SharpTruck finishing caps/mud flap delete kits fit well, look OEM, install quickly, and often help reduce tire rubbing after lifts/oversized tires. A minority report minor fitment gaps/misaligned holes, concerns about painted/white base material, and that rubbing may still occur depending on tire/wheel setup.

What Customers Liked

  • Frequently described as “fit like a glove/factory piece,” matches OEM lines/texture/color, clean seamless finish, looks like it should have come from the factory, removes the “grandpa/old man” mud flap look.
  • Quick install (often 15–60 minutes for 4–6 pieces) with simple hand tools; many note no drilling, no cutting metal, no extra holes, and often no need to remove tires (though rears can be tighter). Instructions and install videos praised as clear.
  • Many report reduced or eliminated rubbing after leveling/lifts and larger tires (commonly 35–37"), more room at full lock, and avoids trimming/hacking stock guards.
  • Often called heavy-duty, better than expected, better than OEM plastic; good molded shape and texture match; well-made/painted finish.
  • Fast shipping (sometimes 2 days/under a week), parts individually wrapped and well packaged; multiple mentions of excellent customer service and even handwritten thank-you notes.
  • Truck looks “cleaner,” “taller,” “more truck-like,” compliments received; considered a high-impact visual mod.

Things to Consider

  • Some report small gaps (especially front pieces), imperfect alignment/holes not lining up 100%, rear fitment “not quite right” for a few; occasional need to apply force/adjust or do minor trimming with certain lift/wheel setups.
  • Several note parts are white/clear plastic with a sprayed black texture/paint rather than molded black; scuffs/chips can reveal white underneath; seams/inside edges may show white unless painted; some wished they were molded in black or paint-matched.
  • Repeated comments that it’s “pricey/overpriced for plastic,” though many still felt it was worth it for the look and function.
  • A few users still experienced tire rub depending on GM fender design and wheel/tire combo; some expected more clearance than achieved and needed additional trimming or other mods.
  • Confusion/annoyance that some kits are 4-piece and additional caps (notably in front of the rear wheels) may need separate purchase; some wish a full 6-piece kit/pair options were standard.
  • Hard-to-remove clips/tabs and rivets for certain factory guards; a few mention needing extra bolts/screws. One severe complaint reported hardware/locking nuts corroding/stripping when transferring between vehicles (high dissatisfaction).

One of the easiest mods I’ve done so far! They look great and such a difference it makes!
Finishing caps

Had to remove the mud shields on my 2019 GMC 1500 to run 35” tires. Unfortunately when the shields are removed it leaves an unsightly hole in the fender and looks unfinished. These finishing caps were the perfect way to complete the plastic molding around the fender wells.
Great quality, easy to install

I looked everywhere for something like this so I could take the factory mudflats off of my new truck.  I finally found them, ordered them, and when they arrived I was impressed by their quality.  I watch the videos on YouTube before installing and had no problems getting the old off and the new ones on.

Great fit.

They fit really well. I didn’t have to cut into the metal like some of the other companies require you to do which is very unnecessary. Go with SharpTruck. They’ll fit. 👍🏻

These Caps arrived in great packaging and when promised.  The instructions were very clear and installed easily. A must have if you intend on installing aftermarket mud flaps.

I ordered the Sierra finishing caps and wanted to know if there is an option to buy two of them to replace the deflectors front of the rear wheel.

There is not a custom fit option specifically for in front of the rear wheels. The rear wheel caps fit almost perfect for in front of the rear wheels. Some customer have bought another set to install those, but they are not available in pairs unfortunately.

Are these made for the Silverado also?

- Dillon on 5/3/2020

These will be available for the Silverado 2500 and 3500 soon. There have been production issues with the facotry being closed due to COVID19

Will the finishing caps fit a 2020 1500 Silverado? I just want to cover the holes left from the factory mud guard.

- Brian on 6/6/2020

There is not a finishing cap for the Silverado. Gatorback has a color match plug that will fit on the front holes of the truck

Truck Hardware Finishing Caps allow you to remove the integrated OEM molded splash guards with a cap that completes the fender flare to maintain the OEM appearance. The Finishing Caps are also designed to allow installation of Truck Hardware Gatorback mud flaps. These mud flap delete kits make it possible to remove the OEM protectors without leaving the end of the flares exposed and unfinished.
