I have a 2018 Ford F-350 SRW. Do I need the set that comes with the mounting brackets or no? What is the benefit?

You do need the no drill brackets. Without them the rear flaps have no surface to mount on. Also these are a Ford Authorized accesory so using these will not effect the warranty on the paint or body of the truck.
Any kind of drilling has the potential to void factory warranties.
