Pedal Commander will improve your overall driving enjoyment or reduce your eco-footprint, you need a Pedal Commander. Most newer vehicles are manufactured with Electronic Throttle Control (ETC). This means your acceleration is no longer powered with the old school throttle cable that gave you a linear relationship between your foot and the throttle body, but now everything is powered by electronics and your car’s computer (ECU). The electronic throttle does not provide the same performance as it creates a lag from your initial accelerator push.

Manufacturers produce vehicles with a "one size fits all" process in an attempt to make most customers happy. For lack of a better term, they make the vehicle “idiot-proof. But you don’t just move into a house and leave it alone, do you? No, you customize it to make it more comfortable and convenient for your individual needs. This is what The Pedal Commander does for your vehicle. The Pedal Commander gives drivers full control of their gas pedal sensitivity. With 36 preset levels, the Pedal Commander has a setting for every driving style. You truly have the ability to make your vehicle’s response exactly how you want it when you want it.

The largest disadvantage is that the throttle response time is significantly slower. Manufacturers limit the response of the throttle in 2 ways. First, they limit how much of the throttle body will open. For example, you can press the gas pedal all the way, but the ECM will open only 80%. Second, the program decides how fast the throttle body will open. In other words, it doesn’t really matter how fast you are flooring the gas pedal. The ECM controls the speed of the signal so your foot can not make the throttle body faster.

Pedal Commander solves this problem. The Pedal Commander connects in-line with the ECT system at the Pedal Position Sensors and is designed to take the information at the PPS and compile it in a high-speed control circuit. It also slightly advances that number and sends it directly to the ECU. By sending the information to the computer this way, a couple of checks that the engine computer will make can be bypassed before sending the signal to open the throttle plate. This gives you the ability to eliminate the delay from your accelerator (gas pedal), allowing your engine to respond faster. As a result, your gas pedal becomes more sensitive for a sportier or an old school feel.

  • When installing the Pedal Commander, if the plugs are not fully locked in, they can become loose over time. To ensure you locked the plugs in place, you will want to hear a "click" sound when connecting the plugs. That "click" signifies that they have been locked in tight.
  • If you do not wait as explained and you unplug the gas pedal too soon, you will receive a check engine light because the vehicle's computer still has power and has detected a sensor was unplugged.
  1. Step One - Turn off ignition
Keep the key fob at least 35ft (10m) away from the vehicle. The key signal can give power to your vehicle's computer.
Wait 10-15 minutes with your driver door open to allow your ECU to shut down

  2. Step Two - Plug in Pedal Commander
Locate your accelerator pedal assembly plug connection
Remove the plug from your gas pedal
Plug male and female connectors into their coordinating plugs on the gas pedal. Make sure that both plugs "click" into place.

  3. Step Three - Clean Up
Make sure the cables are tucked in place so they do not affect or endanger your driving
Route the Pedal Commander to where you can access easily

  4. Step Four - Mount
Use the included alcohol wipe to clean the area where you would like the mount the bracket
Apply the supplied velcro to the bracket and cleaned area
Place the Pedal Commander into the bracket and you're done!
