At a glance

Customer sentiment is overwhelmingly positive: buyers repeatedly praise Gatorback/SharpTruck mud flaps as premium, heavy‑duty, great-looking, vehicle-specific products that provide excellent protection, with standout customer service and fast shipping. The main negatives are high price, occasionally challenging/long installations (especially rears/dually), and periodic hardware/instructions/packaging issues or minor fitment quirks on certain trims/oversized tires.

What Customers Liked

  • Thick/heavy rubber, substantial weight, rugged/OTR-grade feel; holds up for years (5–10+ years reported), flexible in cold/snow, doesn’t “sail” at highway speed; strong brackets add stability.
  • Look “sharp,” “classy,” and OEM-like; logo/plate options (Ford/Chevy/Ram/AT4X/Z71/flags, etc.) get many compliments and add ‘pop’.
  • Many report perfect fit/‘like a glove,’ good tire coverage, options for offsets/oversized tires (e.g., offset versions preventing rubbing), adjustable positioning via slotted holes.
  • Significantly reduces mud/road salt/slush on running boards/steps and sides; helps prevent rock chips and protects trailers/RVs/boats; improves cleanliness on gravel/dirt roads and in winter conditions.
  • Often installs using factory holes and avoids drilling into metal body; videos and written instructions frequently cited as helpful; many install without removing wheels (fronts especially).
  • Consistently praised for responsive support, warranty replacements for tears/rips, quick resolution of shipping damage/wrong parts/missing items, and proactive communication/updates.
  • Fast delivery (often 2–5 days), accurate orders/fitment tools, good packaging noted by many; easy ordering and exchanges/returns.
  • Removable lower section on some models appreciated for added clearance during off-roading, then quick reinstall.

Things to Consider

  • Frequently described as expensive/‘hard pill to swallow’ (some citing $600–$1000+), though many still say it’s worth it.
  • Rears and dually setups often challenging/time-consuming; some recommend removing rear wheels, using a right-angle drill, clamps, or a helper; alignment can take time.
  • Some find written directions vague/confusing; hardware not clearly labeled (washers/spacers), left/right not distinguished, videos not always model-specific; “no-drill” marketing criticized when drilling in liners/plastic is still required.
  • Occasional missing screws/washers/clips/parts; mixed metric/SAE hardware complaints; plastic fasteners/clips stripping or pulling out; desire for stainless/black hardware and better washer/spacer labeling.
  • Some reports of rubbing with oversized tires/turning lock; minor misalignment of holes/templates; driver/passenger side fit differences; not perfect fit for some newer model years or with wheel-well liners/fender flares/steps.
  • Several note rear support brackets feel ‘necessary’ but are not always included; frustration at needing to add brackets separately or not being told upfront.
  • A few cases of brackets coming loose in transit causing scratches; damaged outer boxes; occasional wrong color/plate shipped.
  • Silver fasteners/washer heads stand out; some plates/finishes streak or rust (rare report of rust forming on logo); desire for thicker metal in certain kits.
  • Some note flaps hang low for off-road use; risk of tearing in deep snow, tall grass, or trail obstacles (though removability helps on some models).

Great flaps! Bit of a challenge installing them without removing the duallies, but with the right tools (right angle drive) it is doable. The look really complements the rest of the truck; adds that bling that stands out! So far, even though they don't come that close to the ground, they seem to work well, keeping the road crap off trailers. Seem a bit pricey, but are well made of quality, heavy duty material.

The 457$ is for a parent?. A set. Not one per side?
