At a glance

Overall sentiment is strongly positive: buyers consistently describe Gatorback/SharpTruck mud flaps as premium, heavy‑duty, great-looking, and highly effective at stopping rocks/mud/snow from hitting paint, steps, and trailers. The main reservations are the high price and occasional installation/fitment or hardware/packaging issues, which are often mitigated by responsive customer service and strong warranty support.

What Customers Liked

  • Thick, heavy rubber with substantial weight plates; feels “OTR/semi-truck grade,” doesn’t flap at highway speeds, flexible in cold weather, holds up through winters, gravel roads, mud, and years of use; many repeat buyers across multiple trucks.
  • Significantly reduces rock chips, road debris, mud/salt spray on paint, rocker panels, running boards/power steps, cameras, and keeps trailers/5th wheels/RVs cleaner and protected; coverage often better than OEM or plastic splash guards.
  • Looks “sharp,” classy, and truck-specific; logo/plate options (Z71, AT4X, Ford, Ram, Duramax, flags, black/satin/gunmetal/chrome) get compliments and help the truck stand out; finishing caps appreciated.
  • Many report perfect/vehicle-specific fit with factory-hole mounting, adjustable in/out positioning, good clearance with stock tires, and compatibility with certain trims/fender flares when configured correctly.
  • Generally described as straightforward with the right tools; helpful YouTube videos; bracket kits (especially rear/dually) add stability and make alignment easier; ability to install without removing wheels on some vehicles.
  • Frequent praise for fast shipping, responsive support, quick exchanges for wrong parts, replacement parts/plates/flaps shipped rapidly, and hassle-free warranty (including tears/rips or shipping damage).
  • Replaceable plates; removable lower section on some models for off-road clearance; ability to adjust flap stick-out; some like drilling only into plastic liner (not body).

Things to Consider

  • Most common complaint; many call them expensive/overpriced (often $600–$1000+), sometimes compounded by needing separate bracket kits/plates; some say alternatives may be “good enough” for less.
  • Mixed experiences: some installs are quick, others take hours—especially rear/dually, with wheel-well liners, rock rails/steps, or limited access; right-angle drill and/or removing rear wheels often recommended; alignment can be finicky.
  • Paper instructions sometimes vague, lacking steps, inconsistent with videos, or confusing (hardware ID, left/right orientation, templates, washer placement); requests for better labeling, templates, and model-specific videos.
  • Occasional reports of holes not lining up, needing to drill/elongate slots, bend/trim brackets, trim liners/trim pieces, or create homemade brackets; some rubbing with oversized tires/offset wheels; a few cases of poor fit on specific trims/years.
  • Multiple reviewers note drilling is still required (usually into plastic liner or flap), so ‘no-drill’ feels misleading in some kits.
  • Some dislike plastic clips/nut inserts pulling out/stripping, mixed metric/SAE hardware, bolt length issues, flimsy/galvanized or plastic brackets at high price, silver hardware visible (wish black), occasional missing/mismatched hardware or parts.
  • Some flaps/plates arrived scuffed/scratched or boxes damaged; brackets loosening in transit; a few wrong items shipped or missing pieces (spacers/washers/clips), though support often resolves quickly.
  • Some note low ground clearance depending on model/height; concerns about snagging in deep snow, tall grass, or off-road obstacles; some wish flaps were longer/shorter depending on use.
  • Plate finish can streak/stain (e.g., gunmetal), color/gloss differs from expectations, logos not level in a few cases, and some wish flaps came pre-slotted/pre-drilled for easier install.

Gatorback Dually Mudflaps w/Stainless Plate

I'm satisfied overall. You might have to pay premium price for it, but the manufacturing and quality of the materials are, in my opinion, top notch. The mudflaps with the plate gives it a heavy/solid feel, which is great, especially when you are driving fast, wet roads, and/or on rocky terrain. Additionally, I like how you can replace the plates in the event you get tired of the ones you have. I might buy either the High Country or Chevy logo plates in the future.

Additionally, the bolt that secures the mudflaps retention bracket against the fender flare is too short. I was glad that I have same size but longer bolts in my garage. I wish Gatorback could supply a bolt that is, at least, a half inch longer so that customers would not have a hard time. See pics.

Finally, my dually has the factory wheel liner installed. I had to trim the liners and cut slits on them to accommodate the bracket. Not sure if it compromises the integrity of the liner but we'll find out in the future. I probably could've cut slits instead off trimming parts on the liner but I didn't want to go through the trouble. See pics of the liner to see what it takes to install one.

Wow, doesn’t these mudflaps help complete the look to the rear of the truck. They are made with thick rubber and you can definitely tell these flaps are not from the cheap store. I know they will look good for years to come. Thank you Sharp Truck for offering these awesome mudflaps.

The mud flaps are very well made and heavy duty. I was hesitant about spending that much money on them but they are worth it!

The Truck Hardware Gatorback Stainless Plate Dually Mud Flaps & Caps - Set is a premium accessory designed to deliver unparalleled protection and a rugged, polished look to your 2020-2026 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD Dual Rear Wheel truck. These mud flaps are engineered to shield your truck and anything you tow from road debris, mud, and other elements, ensuring your vehicle stays clean and well-protected while adding a stylish touch. Whether you frequently tow or venture off-road, these mud flaps are built to endure tough conditions and keep your truck looking sharp.

Heavy-Duty Front and Rear Mud Flaps for Full Protection

This set includes two 12" wide front mud flaps and two 21" wide rear dually mud flaps, each providing comprehensive coverage to protect your truck from dirt, gravel, mud, and road spray. The front flaps offer 12.5" of tire coverage from the fender and are crafted from heavy-duty, 1/2" thick virgin rubber that is engineered to withstand the harshest conditions. The front flaps fit seamlessly over the existing factory mud guards and work well with step bars, power boards, or side steps.

The rear dually flaps provide 13.25" of tire coverage and are designed specifically for dually trucks. The substantial 21" wide rear flaps, weighing 10 lbs each, offer the necessary weight to prevent flapping (or "sailing") at high speeds, ensuring that your truck and any towed trailers are well-protected from kicked-up debris. The rear flaps come with custom-fit brackets and hardware that allow for a secure installation. Designed to install over OEM splash guards, the rear flaps provide unmatched protection for your truck's dual rear wheels, making them ideal for those who drive in rugged conditions or frequently tow trailers.

These mud flaps differ from the other Gatorback options for this truck in that they install over the existing mud protectors, providing greater tire coverage and enhanced protection. In contrast, the other option utilizes finishing caps for a more refined OEM look but offers less tire coverage and protection.

304 Stainless Steel Plates for a Premium Look

The 304 stainless steel plates provide corrosion resistance and are built to withstand tough conditions while maintaining their polished, premium appearance. The front stainless steel plates measure 10.25" x 5", while the rear plates measure 17.25" x 5", giving your truck a distinctive and rugged look. The attention to detail in these plates and the polished finish ensure that your truck stands out on the road while offering maximum functionality.

Simple, No-Drill Installation

These Gatorback mud flaps are designed for no-drill installation, making the process simple and preserving the integrity of your truck's body. The mud flaps use the truck's existing factory mounting points. You can easily install the front and rear flaps using basic household tools, and custom brackets and hardware are included to ensure a secure and reliable fit.
